If you are coming for a vacation to the area in the south east of Spain known as the Costa Blanca, you should consider visiting the city of Calpe which is situated in the northern part of the province of Alicante. The history of Calpe goes back to Roman times and many different civilizations have used the land and the sea around Calpe for their own advantages. These include the Visigoths, the Muslims, and the Christians who reconquered the area in the 13th century.

Most people who come to Calpe these days do so for a vacation. There is so much to do here for the holidaymakers including just lazing on the beach all day underneath the hot Spanish sun. But while you are here you will not be able to avoid seeing the rock of Calpe. The rock of Calpe is known as Pennon de Ifach in Spanish. This magnificent tower of rock rises to over 300 meters into the Spanish galley, you will be able to see it from almost any part of Calpe and especially the beaches.
