Madesimo Guide

When planning your next ski vacation, consider including Madesimo, Italy in your travel plans. The municipality of Madesimo is located in Northern Italy, in the province of Sondrio, and directly below the Swiss border. The town has a population of only 597 year-round residents, offering visitors an intimate and friendly resort setting in which to ski and relax. Although it is one of Italy’s smaller ski stations, Madesimo’s intimacy is viewed by many people as an advantage, and an attractive reason to return year after year.

The Madesimo ski resort is ideal for skiers at an intermediate skill level, but is accommodating to less-experienced alpine skiers as well. Snowboarders will also find that the resort is well equipped for their needs, with two snow and terrain parks. There are twenty-nine downhill runs that total forty-eight kilometers. For ski enthusiasts that prefer cross-country, there are also five kilometers of cross-country ski trails to enjoy.

Although most runs are guaranteed to be open for the duration of the season due to the high altitude of the resort, it is still advisable to check the yearly averages for snowfall and temperatures before booking your holiday. This way you will ensure that you will experience your optimal skiing and/or snowboarding conditions during your stay.

An excellent website that offers the statistics of European ski destinations, including Madesimo Italy, is skiinfo.com. This website offers helpful information that will assist visitors to determine which skiing location is the best fit for their needs. It features snow and weather reports, extended-day forecasts, and articles of interest for ski enthusiasts. It even suggests itineraries for specific regions throughout the world. The Madesimo page on this site features additional information such as a webcam, reviews from recent visitors, lift ticket prices, and maps of the area.  Good luck on your skiing trip and take lots of photos!
