Folding campers are a popular option for families and individuals. There are many sizes and floor plans from which to select and they are easier to handle and pull than full size camping trailers or 5th wheel campers. Most run about 10 to 14 feet in length closed and open up to around 15 to 23 feet long.

There are many floor plans but a common configuration is to have sleeping areas at both fold-out ends of the camper. Usually folding campers have large screened windows that also have privacy curtains that zip around to roll up or down when not in use. Many have built in features like a cook stove and sink and some have a bathroom facility.

When you are considering the purchase of a folding camper, take into account the number of persons that will regularly be using the camper. There are very small folding campers that can be pulled along behind a motorcycle or small vehicle and there are very large sizes suitable for large families or groups.

Cleaning the campers is very easy and should be a part of regular maintenance to keep the camper in ready form. Ground clearance may be an issue if you are doing off road or rustic camping trips. Most have plenty of stand up headroom when opened up and a full or queen size bed area. Linoleum floors make clean up easy with a broom. Exteriors of the camper should also be kept clean.

When looking at folding campers select one that is suitable for the size of your family and the size of your vehicle that will be pulling the camper. Make sure the weight of the camper is compatible with the pulling capacity of your vehicle. Add weight to your estimate for items packed within the camper when traveling.

One reason why families enjoy camping in folding campers is that they offer an open air tent camping experience but you are elevated above the ground. It is a bit warmer and more comfortable than being right on the ground and there is some protection from bugs and crawly creatures.

Clean up the camper after every camping trip and be sure to erect it fully to allow the canvas to dry out completely before storing it for any period of time to avoid mildew and rotting. A few simple maintenance procedures will keep your folding camper action ready.
